Draupadi was the wife of the five Pandavas, the ruler of Indraprastha Kingdom. The relation between Krishna and Draupadi was of brother and sister. There wasn’t any blood relation between them. Once Draupadi bandaged Lord Krishna’s wrist by a strip torn from her sari to stop the flow of blood. Lord Krishna was very touched by the gratitude done by Draupadi. He promised her to repay the debt and to protect her from all evils.
Lord Krishna kept his words and spent 25 years protecting Draupadi from all harm and injustice. Once, the five Pandava’s became victim of cruel Duryodhana and his maternal uncle Shakuni in the game of gambling. Duryodhana was the son of Dhritarashtra (Ruler of Hastinapur) and cousin brother of Pandavas. Pandavas lost everything including their Kingdom, wealth and themselves. At last they put Draupadi in the bet and lost her too. Draupadi after been lost by her husband’s was dragged forcefully into the court by Dushasana, brother of Duryodhana and became the victim of vastra Haran. Being wife of five Pandavas, the great warriors Draupadi felt very helpless and insulted. Her only trust remained with Lord Krishna and she prayed to him. As Dushasana undraped layers of her sari, Lord Krishna increases the length of her sari. Dushasana get tired and backs off. This is how Lord Krishna kept his promise and repaid the debt by protecting her from being unclothed in front of assembly of king Dhritarashtra.
